Genuine Earthquake.- Distinct Shock and a Great Roaring Crash. At 8:30 Saturday night [August 15, 1908]. Stoughton and vicinity were visited by a very distinct earthquake shock, accompanied by a crushing rumbling roar that sounded like an explosion of a big blast.

Snyder's Stoughton: Tonis called on the carpet
Stoughton -Stoughton Building Inspector David Tonis spent much of Tuesday night before the Board of Selectmen being grilled in a verbal beating regarding the fire-ravaged Les Gill property at 1688 Central Street. Selectman Chairman John Kowalczyk said, “This was an unauthorized, un-permited, rooming house. You got specific direction from a judge. Nothing was done since 2001. That is my concern. It’s your job. You’re the building enforcement officer.”

Stoughton -Tuesday, Aug. 191:38 a.m. Caller reports parties in vehicle outside St. James Church; parties may be causing problems to vehicles in parking lot; Officers William Healey and Jennifer Lamb got a description of the vehicle and located it; spoke with parents of driver; occupants of vehicle took copper gutter off of St. James Church; one party arrested.

Police respond to bar fights
Stoughton -Police kept busy last weekend controlling bar fights and unruly house parties.
Two people were taken into protective custody and one person was arrested on charges pertaining to an alleged assault.

A plea to the public
Stoughton -A Stoughton boy needs a new wheelchair van and his family cannot afford it.
His mother is reaching out to the community for help.Luis Angel Aponte Rodriguez was born with Congenital Myopathy, a genetic muscle disorder that causes developmental delays, muscle relaxation, stiffness and weakness.
